I was impressed with one lady who stood up to speak at the TEA Party gathering at the Double Tree today, as we were waiting the arrival of Newt Gingrich. She stood and clearly stated to the crowd of 400+ (without a microphone, but clearly heard) that she had never been involved in politics before, but last year had volunteered to be a precinct chair in her county (not Travis, but a smaller county nearby). She said she was a little afraid when she make first calls to find others in her precinct to get involved, but as she got more people involved, her fear has subsided some.

She made a compelling statement that should have encouraged anyone who was there to re-think their involvement, if you aren't taking an active role in your precinct. Please check on the Travis County Republican Party web site www.tcrp.org for your precinct information. If you have a Precinct Chairman, contact your precinct chair and offer your assistance. If there is not one listed in your precinct, contact us to find out how you could serve as Precinct Chair.

We will be installing new Precinct Chairs on May 8 at noon on the South Steps of the Capitol. These Precinct Chairs will serve for two years, but the Executive Committee (all Precinct Chairs and the County Chair) can fill vacancies as they occur throughout the interim.

It's time to step up, join up and LEAD where you are right now. NOW IS THE TIME!

What do we do?

After the shameful display of procedural "Slaughtering", back room dealing,trashing of Congressional decorum and ultimately telling the American public that we had to pass the bill in order to find out what was in it...the Democrats sunk to a new, never attained low in the clear view of the public that they are entrusted to serve. Nevermind that. They were hell bent on getting their bill (which no one had read) voted on by any means possible, by literally buying votes, making promises that they will not keep and ramming this unconstitutional take over of one sixth of the American economy in one fell swoop.

What do Republicans do now? The battle is ON for us to step up the protests and to turn the energy into unseating EVERY Democrat who sold their soul to vote for this bill, starting with Bart Stupak. But locally, the battle is revving up to defeat Lloyd Doggett, whose local office staff were answering the phone as late as Friday afternoon saying that he wasn't sure how he would vote on the Health Care bill until he had read it. Sure. We really believed that. Especially when he said to the patriots who asked him about his vote on the Health Care Bill in August,at the Brodie Lane Randall's "townhall" that he would vote for the Health Care Bill no matter what his constituents wanted. There was no way he read the bill. And yes, that would be a lie to say that you were going to do something that you DID NOT. SO, Lloyd Doggett, the Republican Party in Travis County will do our part to unseat you and send Dr. Donna Campbell to Washington to represent the 25th Congressional District. You, sir, are going to finally get your just reward for your arrogance and for truly being out of touch with the will of the majority of your constituents in Travis County.

Plans are well on the way with Dr. Campbell's campaign. She has been working hard for months to solidify her base, get her message out clearly that she WILL represent YOU, listen to the people in Congressional District 25 and serve honorably. Mr. Doggett has a real race on his hands and Travis County is ready for VICTORY in November. VOTE for DR. DONNA CAMPBELL!!

Marilyn Jackson's opponent was arrested and charged with DWI on Thursday, March 18, 2010. Eddie Rodriguez represents Texas House District 51 in southeast Austin, Texas.

State Rep. Rodriguez charged with DWI

State Rep. Eddie Rodriguez, D-Austin, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated Thursday night, he said today.
Rodriguez sent the Statesman this written statement:
“As an elected official, I want to be as open and up-front as possible to the public. Regrettably, on Thursday, March 18, I was charged with DWI. While the legal process runs its course, I will continue to serve my district in the same diligent and responsive manner that I have served since I was first elected in 2002.”
A spokeswoman for Rodriguez said that he was arrested at about 11:15 p.m., spent Thursday night in jail in Travis County and was released Friday morning on a personal recognizance bond. The spokeswoman declined to say where Rodriguez had been Thursday night and said that he had no further comment
